Colin Meloy é vocalista da banda The Decemberists. Depois de gravar o primeiro trabalho solo, intitulado Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey, lançou, em 2006, o Colin Meloy sings Shirley Collins, onde revisita seis canções da cantora folk irlandesa Shirley Collins. Posteriormente, no ano de 2008, prestou homenagem a uma das grandes vozes do soul music: Sam Cooke. No mesmo ano, lançou também o Colin Meloy sings Live!, que conta com músicas de sua autoria, além de covers do The Smiths e Fleetwood Mac.
